The Manchester United prodigy is one of the most decorated British footballers by a country mile. He has won more trophies than all but three clubs in England, having won an unprecedented 36 trophies during his long and illustrious first-team career.

The Welshman made an impressive 963 appearances for the mighty Red Devils lifting the Premier League trophy 13 times during his career, a feat not matched by any other footballer in the world.

4. Andrea Iniesta – 37 trophies

Maxwell and Andres Iniesta are joint fourth for most trophies won by a player in football. The pair, who were once team-mates at Barcelona, have 37 trophies each.

Of the two, Iniesta earned a name for himself as one of the most gifted midfielders of all time and is revered for scoring the winning goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The Spanish midfielder, who won 32 trophies with boyhood club Barcelona, has two titles (Emperor’s Cup and Japanese Super Cup) with his current team Vissel Kobe.

4. Maxwell – 37 trophies

From his Copa do Brasil victory with Cruzeiro in 2000 to his last success with PSG in the Coupe de France before winding down his football career, left-back Maxwell has carved out an unlikely reputation as a serial winner.

Maxwell has won an outstanding 37 trophies during his 17-year career playing for European heavyweights such as Ajax, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. His major accolades include two La Liga titles, four Ligue 1 titles, and three Serie A titles.

3. Hossam Ashour – 39 trophies

Hossam Ashour is an Egyptian footballer who played for Al Ittihad as a Defensive Midfielder and made more than 500 appearances in all competitions.

In a 17-year association with Al Hyly (2003-2020), Ashour won 39 trophies (6 CAF Champions League, 1 CAF Confederation Cup, 5 CAF Super Cups, 13 Egyptian Premier League, 4 Egypt Cups, 10 Egyptian Super Cups). He is the player who has won the most trophies while playing for a single club.

2. Dani Alves – 43 trophies

Barcelona’s Dani Alves, over the course of his career, won a whopping 43 titles, the most trophies by a player in football.

The Brazilian defender won his first professional title with home town club Bahia. After winning five trophies in six years with Sevilla, Dani Alves made a £23 million move to Barcelona and would go on to win 23 titles including six La Liga crowns and three UEFA Champions League titles.

After trophy-laden spells at Juventus (2016-17 – two titles), Paris Saint-Germain (2017-19 – six titles) and Sao Paulo (2019-21 – one trophy), Alves made an emotional return to Barcelona in January 2022.

On the international front, the 38-year-old has won the Copa America and Confederation Cup twice and the men’s football gold medal at Tokyo 2020. The FIFA World Cup is the only trophy that is missing from his collection.

The Argentina superstar has added yet another with Inter Miami to make it 44 career titles to his name. The League Cup in America is the most recent addition.

Messi won 35 of his career titles during his career at Barcelona (2004-2021) while he won four trophies on national duty, including the Copa America 2021. The Argentine also won the Olympic gold medal in Beijing in 2008.

Messi has won La Liga 10 times, the Champions League four times, and Spanish Cup seven times during his stint with the Blaugrana.
