Aaron Carter — the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter — was born in 1987.
Rising to fame in the teen scene as a pop singer and rapper in 1997 with his self-titled album, Aaron made waves with hits such as “Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It),” “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and “I Want Candy.”
He is also known for his teen romances with young Hollywood starlets including Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan. He appeared on the small screen in television shows including Lizzie McGuire and 7th Heaven.
His reality career started with the 2006 E! reality show House of Carters, which documented his and his siblings’ lives. He also competed on Dancing With the Stars with professional partner Karina Smirnoff, placing 5th, in 2009. In 2019, Aaron and his mother, Jane Carter, appeared on WEtv’s Marriage Bootcamp: Family Edition.
The performer was open about his struggles with drug abuse. He was arrested for possession of marijuana several times and admitted to using benzodiazepines and opiates. He completed a stint at a rehabilitation center in 2017.
Carter’s final full-length album, titled LØVË, was released in February 2018.
He welcomed son Prince in November 2021 with then-girlfriend Melanie Martin.
Carter was found dead at his California home on November 5, 2022, Us Weekly confirmed at the time.
