His contribution to the team was poor in his first season, and even worse in the next, when he manage to average only 2.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. The following year, Harvey Grant was traded to the Orlando Magic with Anthony Parker in exchange for Billy Owens, but he was cut, signing as a free agent with Philadelphia 76ers. In 1999, he announced his retirement from the professional sport. Overall, his career average was 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
