Matthew Perry has died at the age of 54. The beloved “Friends” actor was reportedly found dead in a jacuzzi of an apparent drowning on Saturday.
Perry was at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles when law enforcement discovered him after 4 p.m.
In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department told The Post: “We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 p.m. this afternoon. He was in his 50s.”
According to TMZ, no drugs were found at the scene and no foul play is suspected.
Stars immediately flooded social media to pay tribute to the late star on Saturday.
“RIP Matthew Perry, 54,” Piers Morgan tweeted. “The Friends star was a great actor, but by his own admission, a very tormented guy. His recent autobiography about his addiction-ravaged life was one of the most powerful, honest and revealing I’ve ever read. Such sad news.”
Olivia Munn, for her part, wrote: “He struggled so much with addiction and was brave enough to be open and honest about it. I’m so sorry to his family and friends who are getting the news today. Nothing short of heartbreaking. Rest in love, Matthew Perry.”
“Abbott Elementary” star Lisa Ann Walter acknowledged Perry’s 2000 comedy “The Whole Nine Yards.”
“In The Whole Nine Yards – Matthew Perry runs full force into a patio door – that and the scene that followed is one of the top comedic moments I’ve witnessed. I told him so when I recurred on The Odd Couple. He smiled so big I thought he’d crack his face,” she tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It was beautiful.”
Melissa Joan Hart also took to the platform.
“I’m shocked, we all are! Too soon, so young but heaven gets another funny angel! #GodBlesstheFunnyPeople,” she wrote.
While “Dancing With the Stars” former pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy simply wrote “Damn” on an Instagram post breaking the news of Perry’s death, Melissa Rivers revealed her past connection to the actor.
“A high school classmate died today. So sad. Gone too soon. RIP,” she wrote on X.
Perry had been active on social media days as of late. Five days before his death, he eerily shared a photo of himself relaxing in a jacuzzi.
Last Sunday, he was also photographed in what would be his final sighting as he grabbed dinner with a friend in LA.
