Meet Jordan Pooles Parents : Anthony Poole and Monet Poole
Prior to this year’s free agency, the Golden State Warriors surprised the NBA community by trading 24-year-old Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for veteran Chris Paul. Since then, many conversations and rumors about Poole have taken center stage in NBA circles. Citing that Draymond Green’s punch last year ultimately led to Poole’s trade, some are even trying to unravel the infamous altercation. Anyhow, the Dubs’ decision to let go of a promising prospect like Poole has not gone well with fans.
As far as the Warriors were concerned, Poole indeed was a promising prospect, as he had already added a ring to his resume with them in 2022. What makes JP such a talented hooper? Perhaps because he had the perfect influence under his roof. Yes, the NBA sensation was born to and raised by two athletes. Let’s have a look at Poole’s parents, Anthony and Monet Poole, and his relationship with them.
Who are Jordan Poole’s parents?
Jordan Poole was born to Anthony Poole and Monet Poole on June 19, 1999. JP has inherited his athleticism from Anthony and Monet, who were both athletes in high school. Anthony Poole had made his mark as a football player during his high school days at Simeon Career Academy in Chicago. Later on, he went to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and played football for the university’s team. Meanwhile, Jordan Poole’s mother Monet was also a sensational high school athlete at Washington High School Milwaukee. After high school, she also went to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Back in those days, Anthony Poole had worked as a security guard in one of the dorms at the university. As per reports, it was then and there that he met his future wife, Monet. Anthony and Monet Poole would then get married and settle down in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Jorden Poole, along with his siblings, was raised in Wisconsin.
Jordan Poole’s mother: a social worker
Monet Poole was born on March 19, 1973. Though Monet had participated in sporting events in high school, she has not had a long-standing tryst with any sport. Unlike her husband, she ventured into a career that is not related to sports. Rather, she chose to be a social worker and is now working as a case manager at the Eisenhower Center in Milwaukee.
As part of her role, the 50-year-old has been helping her clients and their families by assessing their needs and helping them achieve these needs. Monet’s education and her job have indeed helped her develop empathy and the ability to think from the other person’s perspective.
Jordan Poole’s father: a former coach
Anthony Poole was born on April 9, 1971, and was raised in the South side of Chicago. He picked up football as his favorite sport and made his mark as a player in high school. When he went to college, he took with him his love for the sport. Anyhow, in college, Anthony would venture into multiple sports. Apparently, he ran basketball pickup games at his gym in Wisconsin. A young Jordan Poole would later encounter both, players of his age and adults, during these games at his father’s gym.
At one point in his professional life, Jordan Poole’s father was set to join the Milwaukee Police Department. That, however, did not happen, and he worked as a UPS driver for a brief period. Starting that journey as a driver, Anthony eventually became a manager.
Apart from this, ‘Papa’ Poole has also donned a coach’s hat in his career. The 52-year-old is an AAU coach for the team Wisconsin Playground Elite. Poole had reportedly started the team for his own son and the venture eventually gained widespread recognition.
How is Jordan Poole’s relationship with his parents?
Given his parents’ affinity towards sports, it is no wonder that Jordan Poole himself has become a wonderful athlete. The 2022 NBA champion has time and again credited his parents’ support for his success. The 24-year-old would often accompany his father to the gym and showed a strong work ethic like his father. Anthony Poole’s work ethic has by now become evident. From a UPS driver to a manager and then to a well-known AAU coach, he has bloomed wherever he was planted.
Besides, Anthony Poole was not soft on his son. As one story goes, Anthony gave his son a reality check after an underwhelming game. He told a young JP that he would make it to some overseas league, but only had a snowball’s chance in hell to make it to the NBA.
Meanwhile, Monet Poole too played an instrumental role in molding Jordan Poole as an NBA star. In fact, JP credits his free-throw shooting skill set to his mother. Back in the day, Monet always scrutinized her son’s free-throw shooting.

A young Jordan Poole had to pay a price for every free throw he missed. Monet would make him do 10-15 push-ups for missing free throws. Not only did JP improve his shooting, but he also grew healthier from being a sleek and slender boy. Poole’s parents have always been at the forefront to witness their son’s accomplishments on the hardwood. From cheering on their son when he shot a three-pointer in high school to seeing him in the NBA, winning a championship, the Pooles have time and again remarked they are proud to be Jordan’s parents.
