They couldn't reanimate Robert Stack, but they knew better than to mess with the theme.

Perhaps YOU may be able to help solve a mystery.

So when does this premiere?

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2020 5:17 PM

This is cool, the Oracle here on DL could maybe help. and maybe a few others from DL who are sensitive.

by Anonymousreply 3June 26, 2020 5:22 PM

We solved the Soft-Butch Sous-Chef. We got this.

by Anonymousreply 4June 26, 2020 5:25 PM

[quote]They couldn't reanimate Robert Stack, but they knew better than to mess with the theme.

Well, they didn't reanimate him, but they did include a sillohuette of him in the opening credits.

by Anonymousreply 5July 1, 2020 11:33 AM

Really loving it so far. The same creep factor.

by Anonymousreply 6July 1, 2020 3:04 PM

I just watched the first two episodes. The husband of the murdered woman in the second episode was creepy as fuck and I really felt sorry for the woman's son.

by Anonymousreply 7July 1, 2020 8:03 PM

Robert Stack's voice was the best!

by Anonymousreply 8July 1, 2020 8:50 PM

What happened to Rey Rivero?

by Anonymousreply 9July 1, 2020 8:54 PM

I don't think there is one, has anyone seen it?

by Anonymousreply 11July 1, 2020 9:01 PM

Rey Rivera and his “best friend” Porter ping to high heaven.... there’s definitely more to the story.

by Anonymousreply 12July 1, 2020 11:06 PM

Do you think he really took a massive leap off the hotel roof, like Michael Douglas in The Game?

by Anonymousreply 13July 1, 2020 11:10 PM

There are videos of Porter online warning about the dangers of socialism. lol

by Anonymousreply 14July 1, 2020 11:15 PM

How big was Rey’s Puerto Rican cock?

by Anonymousreply 15July 1, 2020 11:15 PM

The stepfather in the second episode is a sociopath.

by Anonymousreply 16July 1, 2020 11:16 PM

I don't care what you say OP, they need to find a way to replicate Stack's voice and narration. Is there anyone that sounds like him at the moment?

by Anonymousreply 17July 1, 2020 11:21 PM

[quote] Rey Rivera and his “best friend” Porter ping to high heaven.... there’s definitely more to the story.

I only watched a few minutes before work, but the gay was streaming off Rey.

by Anonymousreply 19July 1, 2020 11:27 PM

The best friend was definitely suspicious

by Anonymousreply 20July 2, 2020 12:22 AM

I couldn't get a handle on Rey. He was very attractive head-on, but his profile was...not.

by Anonymousreply 21July 2, 2020 12:34 AM

They should get a narrator. Other than that, I liked it.

by Anonymousreply 22July 2, 2020 1:25 AM

Who do you get to narrate, though? Robert Stack was a hard act to follow.

by Anonymousreply 23July 2, 2020 1:27 AM

R11 There's no host or narrator.

by Anonymousreply 24July 2, 2020 1:27 AM

[quote]The husband of the murdered woman in the second episode was creepy as fuck and I really felt sorry for the woman's son.

Or did you just want to fuck him?

by Anonymousreply 25July 2, 2020 1:31 AM

His name is PISTOL? Was his mom kin to the Palins?

by Anonymousreply 26July 2, 2020 1:44 AM

I don’t like how each episode is just one long segment.

by Anonymousreply 27July 2, 2020 1:51 AM

Who has seen all the episodes? I've only seen the first two so far

by Anonymousreply 28July 2, 2020 2:54 AM

So Rey and Porter were a couple, OBVIOUSLY.

Sheesh. I can’t believe the wife and family don’t know this.

by Anonymousreply 29July 2, 2020 5:03 AM

When the husband bragged about his degree in criminology what he really meant was "I killed that bitch and those stupid cops will never catch me."

by Anonymousreply 30July 2, 2020 5:20 AM

Most people don't remember that Robert Stack wasn't the first host of Unsolved Mysteries. It began as a series of 7 or 8 specials and the original host was Raymond Burr. He was replaced after 4 shows by Karl Malden and then Stack, after which the show was picked up as a weekly series.

[quote]I don’t like how each episode is just one long segment.

This sort of bugged me.

by Anonymousreply 33July 2, 2020 5:42 AM

I had it on in the background yesterday and it was the French one. I'm fluent so I followed it easily without really watching but it didn't really draw me in. There was nothing mysterious about it.

by Anonymousreply 34July 2, 2020 5:51 AM

I felt like Rey might be gay too.

by Anonymousreply 35July 2, 2020 7:43 AM

Pistol's real name is Wade.

by Anonymousreply 36July 2, 2020 8:06 AM

[quote]I don’t like how each episode is just one long segment.

Jesus Christ, how short is your attention span? The majority of the shows on Investigation Discovery are one story. I mean, I know it's an hour, but Netflix has documentaries that are one story 9 episodes, one hour each.

by Anonymousreply 37July 2, 2020 8:07 AM

R37, it wasn’t about attention span as so much a variety of unique stories. I guess in the steaming world I can always choose another episode to watch.

I’m watching the UFO episode and it’s more interesting than the others so far.

by Anonymousreply 38July 2, 2020 8:45 AM

That's funny since the UFO episode is the only episode people seem to hate. lol

by Anonymousreply 39July 2, 2020 9:22 AM

Actually, I just saw on one of the Unsolved Mysteries groups that people love the UFO episode. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It's funny how so many people summed up the original show as being all aliens and ghost stories when the show's main focus always seemed to be crime and missing people.

by Anonymousreply 40July 2, 2020 9:27 AM

R39, I didn’t say it’s good. I said it’s interesting. I’m not sure what happened but it sounds like mass hallucinations and drugs.

by Anonymousreply 41July 2, 2020 9:56 AM

I liked the UFO episode. The UFO stories were some of favorites from the original show like the Allagash Four abduction.

by Anonymousreply 42July 2, 2020 6:45 PM

Watched the first episode last night. I wasn’t paying close attention during parts of it. Did they ever trace the mystery phone call Rey Rivera received?

by Anonymousreply 43July 2, 2020 6:57 PM

R43 yes it was from Porter’s company

by Anonymousreply 44July 2, 2020 6:59 PM

r43, yes, they traced it to the place where he worked. However, they couldn't trace it to a specific extension, so they don't know who he is talking to.

by Anonymousreply 45July 2, 2020 7:00 PM

R5 That was classy and why I decided to give it a shot. They didn’t have to honor Stack, but they did. I’ve only watched one episode, the murdered hairdresser. I enjoyed it, and I think the husband did it. I’m looking forward to watching the rest.

by Anonymousreply 47July 2, 2020 7:05 PM

Porter hasn't aged well and has gained a bunch of weight. He was hot in the pic in R48.

by Anonymousreply 49July 3, 2020 3:57 AM

Google Porter Stansberry and “fag”. Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 50July 3, 2020 4:31 AM

He sounds like a real piece of work:

You can totally tell when someone is using the word “fag” in terms of hate, and you can totally tell when someone is using the word “nigger” in terms of joy or friendship. For example, a guy we grew up with -- I don't want to use his name on the radio -- his nickname was nigger.

by Anonymousreply 52July 3, 2020 4:38 AM

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

by Anonymousreply 53July 3, 2020 4:38 AM

[quote]They should get a narrator. Other than that, I liked it.

I'm in a Facebook true crime group and when the reboot was announced last summer, people in the group were suggesting that Dennis Haysbert would be a good narrator. I think he could definitely narrate a true crime docu show.

by Anonymousreply 54July 3, 2020 5:27 AM

The sociopathic mother in the sixth episode- holy shit.

by Anonymousreply 55July 3, 2020 7:09 AM

I am enjoying it so far. I've read some complaints about the episodes not being segmented and it being more like a docuseries, but I honestly don't mind that. In-depth crime docuseries have become the norm in the last 30 years since Unsolved Mysteries was first airing, and UM really was the genesis of that format. I think they did a nice job of revamping it for a new generation. I was very happy that they kept the original theme song; aside from Stack's voice, that theme is probably the most defining feature of the show. Compared to the repackaged dumpster fire Dennis Farina episodes, the Netflix version is fantastic.

by Anonymousreply 56July 3, 2020 4:56 PM

The next six episodes are coming soon. It’s a 12-episode season.

by Anonymousreply 57July 3, 2020 5:49 PM

The French murder story is fascinating. How was there no blood? Where is he? He is a lot of things but mostly he is an absolutely brilliant criminal.

by Anonymousreply 58July 3, 2020 6:03 PM

I guess I’m remembering a different mystery show, the one with Leonard Nemoy narrating. What was that called?

by Anonymousreply 59July 3, 2020 6:26 PM

In Search Of.

That was resurrected with Zachary Quinto a few years back.

by Anonymousreply 60July 3, 2020 6:27 PM

R60 Ah, yes, thank you. Where was the Quinto version, did you watch, was it any good?

by Anonymousreply 61July 3, 2020 6:30 PM

I still can't fathom how Rey got through such a reinforced roof!

by Anonymousreply 62July 3, 2020 7:36 PM

The French one totally creeped me out. The father was too much of a narcissist to kill himself.

by Anonymousreply 63July 3, 2020 7:51 PM

[quote][R60] Ah, yes, thank you. Where was the Quinto version, did you watch, was it any good?

History Channel.

It was okay. Quinto has turned following Nimoy into a cottage industry at this point.

by Anonymousreply 64July 3, 2020 7:58 PM

R60 That one was before my time. All I remember was Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack, and Rescue 911 with William Shatner. I also loved Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction with Jonathon Frakes, but not the James Brolin season, but it was different.

by Anonymousreply 65July 3, 2020 11:58 PM

Rescue 911 was another favorite of mine. There are some episodes up on Youtube.

Does anyone else remember the show Sightings which was mostly about paranormal and UFO stories?

by Anonymousreply 66July 4, 2020 12:45 AM

I've had plenty of "married" Puerto Ricans like Rey. The moment the words best friend and move to Baltimore to work with former college fuck buddy/best friend were mentioned together a flash alert of gay gay gay appeared on my screen.

by Anonymousreply 67July 4, 2020 12:59 AM

r66, I remember Sightings. I loved it when I was, like, 15

by Anonymousreply 68July 4, 2020 1:29 AM

The PR guy isn’t gay.

The first episode was a truly baffling mystery but the rest of the episodes aren’t. That woman killed her daughter - where’s the mystery?

What’s the point of the UFO episode? That mystery can never be solved. Total waste of time.

by Anonymousreply 69July 4, 2020 3:28 AM

R69 yes that is my take too - where are the mysteries!

by Anonymousreply 70July 4, 2020 3:34 AM

r69, the old Unsolved Mysteries did UFO episodes, too

by Anonymousreply 71July 4, 2020 3:40 AM

R71 And those episodes are some of the most remembered and beloved.

by Anonymousreply 72July 4, 2020 3:44 AM

He got sent to prison for arson in 2012. I just watched that episode the other day and looked him up.

by Anonymousreply 74July 4, 2020 4:11 AM

R69 to be fair, the original Unsolved Mysteries had plenty of stories where it was obvious what happened, but there was a lack of physical evidence to concretely "solve" the mystery, even if it was clear who was responsible. The Charlotte Pollis disappearance in particular rings a bell—it was one of several UM episodes where it was plain as day that one of the interviewee(s) was guilty—in this case, her husband, Paul. They've still never found her body as far as I know.

by Anonymousreply 75July 4, 2020 4:42 AM

The original is a classic, with the creepy music and Robert Stack's brilliant narration. The new one of course isn't the same, but it's not bad so far.

by Anonymousreply 76July 4, 2020 4:54 AM

The Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès case is pretty much cut-and-dry IMO: He killed his family because he was a narcissist and egomaniac who couldn't handle being exposed as a failure. He did not have the career he projected, he was on the brink of financial ruin, and was obsessed with maintaining a façade that reflected his French aristocratic heritage. It's a perverse tale as old as time: Better to kill the ones you love than bring shame upon them.

The only thing about it that I can't wrap my head around is how there wasn't a trace of blood evidence found in that entire house. They didn't go in-depth in the episode about how extensive the forensic search was, but a simple luminol test would reveal blood even if it had been doused and scrubbed clean with bleach. The abject lack of it is truly bizarre. I also don't recall them mentioning finding any ballistics evidence in the home either—no mention of gunpowder, bullet casings, or holes in the walls or floor that would indicate a gun had been fired. It makes me think that he shot them elsewhere and then returned their bodies to the house to bury them under the terrace.

by Anonymousreply 77July 4, 2020 4:57 AM

I hope they do ghost stories in the next batch of episodes. The original UM did a number of those, and they were all very good.

by Anonymousreply 78July 4, 2020 4:58 AM

R72 I agree the UFO episodes from the original show were some of my favorites.

I also loved the episode about Resurrection Mary ghost sightings in Chicago.

by Anonymousreply 79July 4, 2020 4:59 AM

This case reminded me quite bit of the John List case.

by Anonymousreply 81July 4, 2020 5:01 AM

I might be wrong but I think the UFO and supernatural episodes became more common towards the end of the series original run.

by Anonymousreply 82July 4, 2020 6:35 AM

R82 There were UFO cases in the early seasons.

by Anonymousreply 83July 4, 2020 6:49 AM

[quote]The French murder story is fascinating. How was there no blood? Where is he? He is a lot of things but mostly he is an absolutely brilliant criminal.

Well they did say that they were wrapped up in duvets. I wouldn't be surprised if he placed a pillow over their heads.

I do think he committed suicide. He did a ton of expensive shit before disappearing. He seemed to have the rifle and took photos of the family with him. People aren't found in the wilderness sometimes for years. I was wondering if he poisoned his father hoping to get some money and then found that there wasn't any. The fact that he contacted his son to come back home and then drugged and killed him a day later is so evil. The son was in the house with his entire family dead in the back yard.

by Anonymousreply 84July 4, 2020 8:37 AM

[quote]That woman killed her daughter - where’s the mystery?

Where the body of the daughter is located. It's also imperative that this woman be outed so more men don't get involved with her. She is no longer with her boyfriend. Someone might have heard something. Killers have a way of running their mouths. Maybe the boyfriend will turn on her.

by Anonymousreply 85July 4, 2020 8:39 AM

R86 I'm glad to see that a lot of people have tuned in to the new season. Hopefully the favorable response means they'll keep making new episodes.

by Anonymousreply 87July 4, 2020 9:23 AM

Did they examine the hole on the roof at hotel to see if Rey actually came through it or not?

by Anonymousreply 88July 4, 2020 9:28 AM

Well now. This was certainly a trip into Backwater, USA, wasn’t it? A roundup of teen moms hitting the eyeliner too hard, and the camouflaged yokels that love them. Even their babies are dressed camo.

by Anonymousreply 89July 4, 2020 10:42 AM

Did Lena just shave off her eyebrows completely and pencil in new ones?

Eyeliner and mascara must come cheap in Appalachia.

by Anonymousreply 90July 4, 2020 10:51 AM

[quote][R86] I'm glad to see that a lot of people have tuned in to the new season. Hopefully the favorable response means they'll keep making new episodes.

6 more are already coming.

by Anonymousreply 91July 4, 2020 1:52 PM

We know that the woman is capable of burning bodies and scattering the ashes over a large area so that they'll never be discovered. That's what she did to her husband and that's what she did to her daughter. We'll never locate the ashes and she'll never admit to the crimes.

But let's spends thousands of dollars on a re-enactment show anyway.

by Anonymousreply 92July 4, 2020 2:56 PM

Ugh! Subtitles?! Are there any more international stories beside the French one?

by Anonymousreply 93July 4, 2020 3:26 PM

R90 They are nowhere near Appalachia, hell they aren't even in the Ozarks.

by Anonymousreply 94July 4, 2020 3:27 PM

[quote] He killed his family because he was a narcissist and egomaniac who couldn't handle being exposed as a failure.

Quick, someone send a copy of this episode to Trump. You know how easily influenced he is by what he sees on tv.

by Anonymousreply 95July 4, 2020 4:22 PM

We'd do better sending him something about John List. This episode would require him to read.

by Anonymousreply 96July 4, 2020 4:23 PM

Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès obviously setup a kill zone in the house that he dragged or lured them to, with tarps and plastic wrap etc. hence the lack of blood.

by Anonymousreply 97July 4, 2020 4:32 PM

Any chance the Count de Ligonnes was pals with the Count and Countess de Lesseps?

by Anonymousreply 98July 4, 2020 5:49 PM

My impression is that they are scraping the bottom of the barrel for crimes that are still available - haven't been done to death.

by Anonymousreply 99July 4, 2020 8:03 PM

I watched the first two episodes just fine but on the third one, the one about the count, all of a sudden it has an audio description. And I can’t turn it off. Has this happened to anyone else? And why does Netflix make it such an impossible task to turn it off?

by Anonymousreply 100July 4, 2020 8:17 PM

The French family was a very nice looking family.

by Anonymousreply 101July 4, 2020 8:26 PM

Wow, I'm surprised nobody oh deared "If you have any information regarding Alonzo Brooks's death, please submit a tip online." at the end of episode 4.

by Anonymousreply 102July 4, 2020 8:34 PM

i hated the hillbilly episode with the mom and 6 daughters. the mom just seemed so trashy. hardly worth the episode.

by Anonymousreply 103July 4, 2020 8:35 PM

I did like the Chloe Sevingy-looking daughter tho.

by Anonymousreply 104July 4, 2020 8:37 PM

R104 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought she looked like Chloe. They look like they could be sisters. That episode was frustrating as hell, but I was glad to see that all of that evil cunt's children turned on her. I cannot imagine living with knowing that one of my parents killed my sibling and got away with it.

by Anonymousreply 105July 4, 2020 8:42 PM

The original Unsolved Mysteries had a lot of "lost loves" episodes and siblings who were separated as children trying to find each other. These stories were always very good because they were so emotional. The UM producers said that those stories are not obsolete because of DNA sites like Ancestry.com, social media and the internet in general.

by Anonymousreply 106July 4, 2020 11:14 PM

Those stories are NOW obsolete is what I meant to say.

Damn autocorrect!

by Anonymousreply 107July 4, 2020 11:15 PM

[quote]i hated the hillbilly episode with the mom and 6 daughters. the mom just seemed so trashy. hardly worth the episode.

You must be joking. A mother who is literally ready to sacrifice her kids and kill her ex?

by Anonymousreply 108July 5, 2020 12:11 AM

[quote]The French family was a very nice looking family.

The eldest (bastard) son had the looks.

by Anonymousreply 109July 5, 2020 12:12 AM

R108 And, is now raising the child of the daughter she killed.

by Anonymousreply 110July 5, 2020 12:13 AM

The count wasn't bad when he was young. His best friend was a hanger on, clearly, a social climber, and maybe in love with the count when they were young.

by Anonymousreply 111July 5, 2020 12:14 AM

R109 I noticed that too. But he was only 20 so I felt bad that I found him kinda hot in one of the pictures. He was the bastard son too so maybe the mom got some good dick while the count was off finding himself. for a year. The little girl was very pretty though.

by Anonymousreply 112July 5, 2020 12:17 AM

What do we think of the UFO episode? Could it be explained away as something other than a UFO?

by Anonymousreply 113July 5, 2020 12:35 AM

the trouble is, r113, people hear UFO and they automatically think of aliens. It's not. It's simply something that can't be explained. Back in that era all sorts of technology was being made for warfare. We were in the Cold War.

by Anonymousreply 114July 5, 2020 12:38 AM

r114 you do have a point. Remember the stealth bomber? It was in development for years and when it was test flown a lot of people thought it was a UFO. It wasn't until the gov't officially made the stealth bomber public information that people knew what it was they actually saw.

Unsolved Mysteries had a REALLY creepy segment about the family that was radiated during a UFO encounter. Doctors couldn't figure out how to treat them and the government had to call them in for questioning. They all became very ill. Only the son who was a child at the time is still alive today and gives the odd interview about it.

by Anonymousreply 116July 5, 2020 12:56 AM

Yes! I remember that episode. I remember a Patsy Cline-looking woman getting out of her car and covering her eyes as she looked up at the UFO.

by Anonymousreply 117July 5, 2020 1:01 AM

I enjoyed the new episodes. I see that the FBI re-opened the Alonzo Brooks investigation and is offering $100k. I have no doubt that guy was beaten or strangled to death, frozen for a while and then planted.

I couldn't finish the UFO episode. ZZZZZZZZ. When the elderly floozy started describing kids disappearing from some room, I flipped to the next episode.

by Anonymousreply 119July 5, 2020 2:31 AM

R113 The one thing that bothers me about the UFO encounter, is how the people said they all had missing time and were in slightly different locations when they awakened. Like the one person saying their grandmother, who never drove, was suddenly behind the steering wheel. The rest of it could be passed off as new technology being tested, but I can't figure that part out.

by Anonymousreply 120July 5, 2020 2:32 AM

During the UFO episode, I just kept thinking of this:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 121July 5, 2020 2:51 AM

I think his friend knows exactly what happened. It was either his friend that called him or someone who said his friend was in trouble and needed him which is why he hurried out so fast. The whole scene was staged. He didn't fall thru that roof. I think they axed through it and then threw something heavy through it to make it look like he fell through. I think it was well planned which means someone had the money to pay experts to carry it out. It had to do with money. Doesn't everything?

by Anonymousreply 122July 5, 2020 2:54 AM

In the UFO episode, I laughed at the guys painting. It was so cliché.

by Anonymousreply 123July 5, 2020 2:58 AM

The UFO episode. I had never heard of that incident but remember when a couple was driving on RT 3 in NH and said they had been abducted by aliens for a short period of time, This was around the same time period. He was black and she was white which is why I think they dismissed the whole thing as a hoax at the time.

by Anonymousreply 124July 5, 2020 2:58 AM

He was hot as hell. Move and write a newsletter for me...and do the things we did after water polò. Duh

by Anonymousreply 125July 5, 2020 3:04 AM

R124 That was Betty and Barney Hill.

by Anonymousreply 126July 5, 2020 4:42 AM

R116 Didn't the son have cancer later on? IIRC, the grandmother and mother later died of cancer which they always said was the UFO.

One of the memorable UFO segments for me from the original was the one about the Hudson Valley sightings which were seen by various groups of people.

by Anonymousreply 127July 5, 2020 4:44 AM

Was the Hudson Valley UFO the triangular one that was all lit up? That was a freaky story.

by Anonymousreply 128July 5, 2020 4:52 AM

I think they spent way too long on each “mystery” I lost interest half way through the first episode. They really should have stuck to a similar format as the original with a hot host and 3-4 stories each episode with each being different type of mystery ( missing person, unexplained phenomenon, lost treasure etc)

by Anonymousreply 129July 5, 2020 4:55 AM

Rey lived in Baltimore for 8 months before his wife joined him. They were married for two years and in total spent 6 months together.

by Anonymousreply 130July 5, 2020 5:07 AM

R128 I think it was triangular. I was a kid when that episode first came out and I remember being freaked out because the segment re-enacted how a man and his kids saw it front of their home. He had a teenage son and two younger daughters and the daughters were freaked out and ran inside the house.

by Anonymousreply 131July 5, 2020 6:32 AM

Damn. Pistol was hot as Hell.

by Anonymousreply 132July 5, 2020 6:42 AM

The Alonzo episode was the most boring to me. He easily could have gotten in a fight and wondered off and died due to injuries. They made it seem like he was put in a meat locker and then his body dumped, when the medical examiner said he easily could have floated down the creek.

The family has let their emotions form their opinions instead of scientific facts.

by Anonymousreply 133July 5, 2020 6:43 AM

The UM producers said that those stories are not obsolete because of DNA sites like Ancestry.com, social media and the internet in general.

TLC has a show called Long Lost Family which is about two private investigator who track down bio parents or other family members. They often use DNA testing to track family members down. Finding Your Roots on PBS had an episode with Tea Leoni. Her mother was adopted and they used DNA testing to track the mother's bio parents.

R130 I've been down a rabbit hole on Reddit about Rey's case. The entire situation is so strange. All we have to go on is the testimony of this mystery woman "Claudia". If she was the wife's colleague, then why was she in the home while the wife was on a business trip? And why didn't the show mention that Rey had purchased the book "Freemasons for Dummies" on the day he died? Such a bizarre story. I believe both mental illness and foul play were involved in his death.

by Anonymousreply 137July 5, 2020 10:49 AM

[quote]I think they spent way too long on each “mystery” I lost interest half way through the first episode.

It's not our fault that you have no attention span and are lazy, hon.

by Anonymousreply 138July 5, 2020 10:53 AM

[quote]If she was the wife's colleague, then why was she in the home while the wife was on a business trip?

Yeah, I was wondering why she let some young woman stay in the house with her husband.

by Anonymousreply 139July 5, 2020 10:54 AM

Rey's injuries are consistent with a car accident. They weren't consistent with a fall. Some have speculated that the entire thing was staged. He was placed in that abandoned building and they made a hole from the incident to make it look like he jumped and crashed through it. The body was already decomposing. They couldn't tell what actually killed him. His feet were the tell-tale signs that he hasn't gone though the roof. Porter sounds like a psychopath. I could easily see him hiring a bunch of goons to murder him.

by Anonymousreply 140July 5, 2020 10:55 AM

I love this show.

I'm now obsessed with Pistol Black. I want to comfort him. I can make him feel better.

by Anonymousreply 141July 5, 2020 2:09 PM

Pistol is hot but very damaged (who wouldn’t be?)

by Anonymousreply 142July 5, 2020 2:50 PM

Does anyone else remember the episode opining that Jesus might have built a spiral staircase for a convent of California (?) nuns?

by Anonymousreply 144July 5, 2020 5:08 PM

I hope they delve more into supernatural stuff in future episodes. Those stories were always good.

by Anonymousreply 145July 5, 2020 5:10 PM

"Rey's injuries are consistent with a car accident. They weren't consistent with a fall. Some have speculated that the entire thing was staged."

Why the hell would they stage it to make it look like a fall if he died in a car accident? Why exactly would they smuggle a 230 pound man onto the roof and then make a hole in the roof?

by Anonymousreply 150July 6, 2020 12:22 AM

Pistol is very cute–like a rough trade Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It was really sad watching him cry on camera about his mother. I wanted to give him a hug.

So which one of these “mysteries” will get solved from this show?

by Anonymousreply 152July 6, 2020 1:22 AM

I've only watched the first two episodes so far, but I'm ashamed of myself for thinking that Patrice's husband seemed sincere and loving at first. It's amazing what they can do with careful editing. I should have learned my lesson from the episodes "Real Housewives" that I've watched. That business with the bones at the funeral home was totally sicko. And to lock your stepson out of the house the day his mother disappears and never letting him back in to get his stuff or anything of his mother's?

Alonzo Brooks, the black guy who went to a party in skinhead country and ended up dead in a ravine. It seems like a lot of people know what happened but no one's talking (yet).

by Anonymousreply 155July 6, 2020 2:02 AM

[quote] Legend says that the builder appeared after nine days of prayer and disappeared after completing the task with no pay or thanks. This led the sisters to speculate that the builder was St. Joseph himself. However, in the early 2000s, historian Mary Jean Cook identified Francois Jean or “Frenchy” Rochas as the probable carpenter. He came to New Mexico from France around the 1870s and was a reclusive rancher and occasional carpenter. A key piece of evidence is an entry in the Sister’s logbook of a $150 payment made to Rochas for wood indicating he had done some work for them. Also, at the time of his death, it was reported that he owned an extensive set of carpentry tools.

by Anonymousreply 178July 9, 2020 5:48 AM

The Alonzo episode was weird--the show referenced a lot of online chatter about the case but the producers didn't interview anyone who was at the party that night other than Alonzo's friends. Did the producers even try to interview anyone in that backwater shithole town? Did everyone refuse to talk to the producers? Did they even try to interview the guys who were renting the house the night of the party? That's an unsolved mystery.

by Anonymousreply 181July 9, 2020 1:53 PM

I hope they’re starting to film the Naya Rivera episode as we speak, with Selena Gomez making her comeback to acting portraying her in the dramatic re-enactments.

by Anonymousreply 182July 9, 2020 4:14 PM

by Anonymousreply 195July 10, 2020 1:44 PM

Robert Stack added a lot of personality to the show and of course made it somewhat campy though I can't say that he's missed in this reboot.

This book covers everything (including the possible gay angle) you might want to know about the Rey Rivera case. I wonder why the author wasn't interviewed during that particular episode.

by Anonymousreply 221July 18, 2020 12:43 AM

Never addressed in the Rey episode is if they tried to find out if he knew anyone living in the building (which I take it was a hotel turned condo) that would explain why he chose it and knew he could get up on the roof.

And the interviewee with the extreme Karen hair made me laugh in the Pistol episode. Maybe she’s keeping her hair frozen in 2004 style as an homage to the dead hairdresser.

by Anonymousreply 222July 19, 2020 4:04 PM

R222, they traced the call to his business. Someone lured him there. No one is talking.

by Anonymousreply 225July 19, 2020 8:13 PM

Yes, the call came from his business, but that doesn't mean he was "lured" there

by Anonymousreply 226July 19, 2020 8:20 PM

R226, are you retarded? He received a call, had to run out to meet them and then ends up dead. No one will talk (or is allowed to) to help get to the bottom of who actually called him. Put two and two together. It’s beyond obvious. He’s injuries were also consistent not with a fall but from a car accident.

by Anonymousreply 227July 20, 2020 10:48 AM

r227, are you retarded? No one knows what the call was about. It's not true that his injuries weren't consistent with a fall, either. The idea that it was staged makes no sense. Why not just bury his body in the woods somewhere instead of dragging it into a hotel, making a huge hole in the roof of the hotel, putting his flip flops on the roof, etc

by Anonymousreply 228July 20, 2020 4:54 PM

Rey received the call and abruptly left the house at around 6:30pm. He was heard coming thru the roof at the Belvedere at 10pm. What happened during those missing hours? He wasn't seen by anyone. I hope a witness comes forward. I want to see this one solved.

by Anonymousreply 230July 21, 2020 8:54 AM

[R221] the author of the Rey Rivera book Mikita Brottman did a Reddit AMA after the UM segment and she says she WAS interviewed extensively by the show then was told they weren't going to use any of her footage. She seems to feel that's because the show was spinning the story to go with the murder theory--she leans toward it being suicide after a psychotic break of some sort.

I'm just reading her book now, I took it out of the library as soon as I read her reddit AMA (which I recommend looking up if you're very interested in the case, she posted some informative stuff.)

R241 that’s hardly a mystery

by Anonymousreply 243September 2, 2020 1:34 PM

I watched a couple of the new episodes tonight.

I started with the woman who died in a hotel in Oslo. I thought it sounded like another Isdal Woman story, actually, it wasn't that interesting. It felt like it would've been a better story in the old format, where they could devote just 15 minutes to it. Here they seemed to be stretching it out.

Then I saw the missing Harlem children. Broke my heart. I knew this story vaguely already, but reading it online isn't the same as seeing the mothers falling to pieces on TV. This really is horrific, and I just hope that maybe one day they will find that they are still alive and have come looking for their real mothers after being given to other families, just like that one girl who was stolen from the hospital.

I was never callous before, but now that I have two nephews around the ages of those children, I feel like I get more emotional about stuff like this.
