Huerta was born on January 29, 1981, in Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico. Huerta’s father, a film enthusiast, enrolled him in an acting class with Mara Elena Saldaa, and he later studied with Carlos Torres Torrija and Luis Felipe Tovar. Huerta is descended from indigenous peoples, having a Nahua maternal great-grandmother and a Purépecha paternal great-great-grandmother. Huerta does not consider herself to be Indigenous. He does, however, encourage people to learn more about their Indigenous heritage both within and outside of the community.

He made his acting debut as a minor character in the 2006 film Asi del precipicio.
